A trip around the world in a week.

hello. it’s kinda hard to me to write this post because i have a lot of thoughts and i just can’t concentrate.

this week was dedicated to nationalities and contries in general.

1. my discoveries i really like the idioms we learned: The flying Dutchman, China dishes, French fries, a German shepherd ( i love the story of this word : shep is like a sheep and herd is like a herd and this dog is a herder for a sheeps), it has more holes than Swiss cheese, French toast, English muffins, going Dutch( it’s like when each person pays for himself/herself), it’s all Greek to me (like the phonetics for me), Indian summer, Chinese whispers and my favorite one is a Mexican standoff.

a new cool phrases : without a second thought, a blessing in disguise, pale in comparison.

2 my achievements my biggest attainment is that i understood how good is to plan the time. i can finally do some more stuff.

we started a new book with Ms. Kate called ‘Don’t Look Behind You’ by Lois Duncan. so i have some new cool words : edgy, to get uptight = nervous, furious = super angry, casual acquaintances = when you know someone not really well, aisle = hallway, to make one’s trek to some place = to make the way to some place, catch you later =see you.

3. my challenges it becomes easier but i’m so so so bad at phonetics. it is so hard to me to understand the difference between long i and short i, the difference between a and a butterfly sound. so the way to solve this problem is obvious : i need to give this some more attention and work. maybe i can watch some videos where people explaining these sounds again and again and again and again just to REMEMBER. and ofc just learn the words and its transcriptions.

4. sharing i’m really exited to start this one because yo you have NO idea what a great youtube channel i’ve found. it’s called DamonAndJo and it’s STUNNING i swear. just find it attached and go check it out. but if you wanna some summary i can say that this guys are Americans (obviously) so we can improve our accent (hi phonetics) and learn some new words (they have subtitles) just like we can do it from tv shows and films. and ha they are traveling a lot so we can learn a bit about different cultures and contries which is very useful as well. and they are learning languages just like we are:)

also i started to listen the audiobook called ‘Love Of Life’ by Jack London. you can do it but for the first time it’s difficult to understand the sentences especially if it’s a fiction.

the last one : you can ‘dive’ into the language atmosphere you are learning. for example, my phone interface is on spanish and i follow some Spanish people in my social media to see this language everyday (oh there is a lot of slang as well).
