Leer te hace diferente
Es vital que leamos. Solo puede ser solo media hora al día, no tenemos que dejar de leer. A mi me mola leer, creo que es una de cosas fundamentales para nuestra educación. Por lo demás, estoy de acuerdo que la lectura nos hace diferente. Acabo de leer un libro escrito por un abogado estadounidense sobre el sistema de justicia en su país y lo injusto que es y es cierto que parezco una persona diferente. Es maravilloso que simplemente siempre tengas algo para aprender de los libros, el proceso de aprendizaje nunca se para. Además, mi parte favorito es la gran elección de lectura que tienes, puedes hallar un libro sobre literalmente cualquier tema.
En el vídeo el profesor Doug Lemov nos dice que hoy por hoy los jóvenes leen menos provocando el descenso del nivel de la formación en las escuelas. La invención de Smartphone es otra causa de este proceso. Pero la cosa es que el sistema en si mismo no deja de ser problemático. Los estudiantes reciben textos sobre temas de los que nunca han oído, así que les falta el contexto y conocimiento para realmente entender aquel texto. El profesor no tiene duda de que la lectura no es lo suficientemente apreciada ni por los colegios ni por las personas individuales. Por ejemplo, en las instituciones educativas de los Estados Unidos los profesores enseñan sacar conclusiones de texto como una habilidad, pero, de nuevo, así no es como se debe hacer. ¿Como se puede sacar conclusiones de algún libro y analizarlo si no se sabe nada sobre el contexto de ese libro? Aunque se pueda decodificarlo, si no se tiene el vocabulario y el conocimiento general de lugar del que se trata el texto o cosas así, es inútil leerlo. Eso les hace fracasar los estudiantes.
Creo que Doug Lemov tiene razón cuando dice que necesitamos tomar la lectura en serio porque nos enseña muchas cosas. Este video es mi favorito de los que he elegido, es un tema que tenga habilidad de cambiar vidas para mejor. Por eso claro que lo aconsejaría a otros que también lo vieran.

Reading Makes You Different
It’s vital that we read. It can be just half an hour a day, but we have to keep reading. I love it because I think it’s something fundamental for our education. Also, I agree that reading makes us different as I have just finished reading a book written by an American lawyer about the justice system in his country and how unjust it is. I do believe it’s changed me and my perspective on things in a way. And in general, it’s marvelous that you can always pick up something from books, the process of leaning never stops. Moreover, the best part is that you have such a big selection to choose from as you can find material on literally any topic.
In the video professor Doug Lemov says that nowadays young people read less which provokes the level of general education to go down. The invention of smartphones is another reason for that. However, the problem is that the system in itself is quite problematic as well: students get texts about subjects they have never heard of, that’s why they don’t have enough context or knowledge to interpret the text in the correct way. The professor is sure that both schools and individuals do not appreciate the reading part of the learning process enough. For example, in educational institutions in the United States professors teach how to draw conclusions from a text like it is an ability that can be taught this way. How can you really understand a text if you don’t know its background? Even though you can kind of “decode” it, if you don’t know the necessary vocabulary nor the place where the action is set and things like that, it’s sort of pointless to read it. This is the very thing that makes many students fail.
I think the professor is absolutely right in saying that reading should be taken more seriously because it teaches us many things and helps our brain develop. This video is my favorite out of those I have chosen because this is a topic that can literally change lives. That’s why I’d definitely recommend it to other people.
Ah, how fun this was! Translating something always makes me feel at peace for some reason, I really enjoy doing it. This text is kind of hectic in both languages as my Spanish writing skills still have a long way to go (well, pretty much same goes for English and other languages).
