Jazz is truly a spectacular and unique art form that stands out from others. Even its history is special and should be acknowledged. Jazz emerged from religious music, work songs, American folk music, European classical music, and African rhythms. So many people relate to the sound of jazz as it practically consists of a great number of different sounds, meaning that people from all over the world can find something to their own liking. Jazz is just as diverse as America itself, and, moreover, it gets the honor to represent the other major values of the country.

While others may argue about the kind of freedom one can find in the USA, the freedom in jazz is indisputable. That’s basically the whole point of this music style. You get to experiment with the tunes, your instrument and your voice and it’ll still be jazz. Improvisation is the key that makes this music extremely thrilling and unforgettable. People can find comfort, salvation, or escape in the melodies of jazz and its spontaneity and freedom.

Action and hard work are other characteristics of jazz that reflect American values. All the legends of the genre, just like the most famous people in any other field, are known to be hard working and willing to take risks in order to find that cherished one-of-a-kind sound that would make their work pay off. Jazz bubbles with energy because the people who play it are really passionate about what they do, it’s almost like they express their emotions and live through their music.

Furthermore, jazz is always open to changes because it’s not afraid of the results of those changes. People of America also try to look ahead, into the future. Even though those modifications can come out disastrous, at least you get to experience them and learn to not make those mistakes again. But on the other side, they can introduce something unexpected and good so that this thing can never be the same again. That’s why throughout history, jazz has had many different sounds that have contributed to the style greatly. Jazz lived as the predecessor of ragtime and blues, as its own style after them and it’s still here and going!! Jazz will be immortal as long as it’s moving forward and changing, infusing its iconic melodies with the experiences of people and the values they possess.

Thank you,

Anya
